A Message from the Dean

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny in comparison to what lies within us.”

                     -Oliver Wendell Holmes

Welcome Back!

It is hard to believe that the summer has come and gone and the crisp days of fall are on our doorstep! We are excited to begin a new year full of opportunities. This year our theme will be “The Key to Success”. Our students each hold the key to their success; we are eager to see the amazing doors they will open!

There have been a few changes and additions within the Code of Conduct and Student Handbook for the 2016 – 2017 school year. Please review these documents with your students before the upcoming year. Some of these changes address the storing of personal items in secured lockers during the school day, and the inclusion of the 6th grade within the eligibility policy. We also continue to remind our students that in accordance with the Wellness Policy, energy drinks and highly caffeinated drinks, including soda, coffee and/or tea are not to be consumed on school property during the school day.

Cell phones and personal devices continue to be at the discretion of individual classroom teachers. While we encourage students to utilize technologies to enhance their educational experience, we need to limit distractions within the classroom. We appreciate your assistance and cooperation.

This year we have included in your welcome back package a new absence form for your convince. This form may be used to report all excuses for tardiness, absences or early dismissals. You may also access this form on the school website. A phone call to ext. 20, a written excuse, Doctor’s note or this form must be used for an excused absence. Parents are requested to return this form, or other documentation, as soon as their student returns to school. All reported absences must be documented within 48 hours after returning to school to be considered an excused absence.

As a reminder, we ask that when visiting a classroom during the day, parents register in the Main Office where the secretary will notify the classroom teacher. We look forward to working with our students, families, and community as we partner together in another promising school year. Look for Open House details to follow!
