Course Descriptions and Syllabi
English 8
This English Language Arts course will stress the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as emphasizing critical thinking skills, the effective communication of ideas, and the comprehension and analysis of literary works. This class will also prepare you for the New York State English Language Arts exam in March. We will often look at connections between our work, history, current events, and our own lives. Hopefully, you will discover several good reads throughout the year and find that you enjoy some of the stories we will read!

English 10
This English Language Arts course will stress the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as emphasizing critical thinking skills, the effective communication of ideas, and the comprehension and analysis of literary works. This class is required for graduation. We will often look at connections between our work, history, current events, and our own lives. Hopefully, you will discover several good reads throughout the year and find that you enjoy some of the stories we will read!
 
English 11
This course is about reading, writing, listening, speaking, and, of course, Regents and SAT preparation! You will be reading novels, short stories, essays, poems and plays, as well as much more nonfiction to meet the NYS Standards. Along with the literature, you will be practicing evidence-based writing, learning new words with daily vocabulary, reviewing grammar rules, and preparing for the June state exam. Finally, you will also engage in several projects that will focus on your life, your future plans, and preparing for the steps you will take to accomplish your post-secondary goals.
 
English 12 
Welcome to Senior Year! This course is about reading, writing, listening, speaking, and, of course, college and career preparation!
