Midterm and final examinations will be administered in all full-year and half-year secondary courses on dates in January and June for courses that are not linked to a NYS Regents or another standardized assessment. The teacher may elect to give either a traditional mid-term assessment or an alternative assessment (ex. research paper, project or laboratory demonstration) to determine student proficiency, as approved by the building principal. Teachers may still elect to administer mid-term and final examinations in Regents classes but they may not double weigh that assessment with that of the NYS assessment, since the NYS assessment would be the final proficiency benchmark.
