Scenario-you must provide a scenario that involves at least one element of nature in conflict with man. Examples: an unmarked hiking trail, snowing while lost, falling through a frozen pond, or a mother bear and cub, etc… Physical conflict-you must create at least one issue that may prove harmful to the physical well being of man. Example: hypothermia from cold or broken leg from fall Setting-you must include a detailed description of setting including natural elements as well as manmade elements. Example: wilderness with raspberry bushes or snowmobile Resources-you must include a detailed list of all resources, both manmade and natural. Be sure to provide documentation such as research to support using resources. Example: using sticks to make a cast or making a compass from various materials or eating raspberry- bushes are native to Catskills Solution-you must provide a solution or outcome for your scenario. It must be possible and have all necessary support from reliable research-based sources. Example: able to make shelter using natural resources until help arrived, climbed to top of mountain and able to receive cell phone signal, etc… Safety guide-create a general safety guide in response to your scenario. The safety guide must have a minimum of four sections including a contact or additional resource section with valid information. Tip: You can search the internet looking at various safety guides to help give you ideas for sections. Presentation-you must present your project. You can choose the format of your presentation, but need to get it approved first. Examples of presentation: a videotaped reenactment, a news story (you can present it as a live broadcast or a newspaper article), an interview with survivor (live or videotaped), a short story, a survival course with live testimony, or whatever other ideas you may have. |
