Community Eligibility Provision Information

New Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at RCS!

                   Cafeteria News

Welcome to a new and exciting year at the Roxbury Cafeteria! We can’t wait to start serving up some of last year’s favorites and some new menu items that are sure to please. Look for these new items on the menu.

Every year, government standards for school cafeterias become more stringent, but the Roxbury Cafeteria is rising to the challenge. All of our meals are designed to give children balanced nutrition that growing bodies need. In addition to being healthier, our meals are going to be tastier than ever.

We are pleased to announce that Roxbury has been accepted into a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This program allows ALL children to eat breakfast and lunch at no charge.   CEP is provided by the USDA to schools that apply and qualify based on criteria similar to those used for free/reduced meals in the past. This is an exceptional opportunity for all of our students to get the nutrition they need to meet their academic potential. Please note that success of this program depends on student participation. So please dispense with the brown bags, get to school in time for breakfast, and let us prepare delicious, well rounded meals for your children. (See reverse for Official CEP Notice)

You do not need to submit an application to participate in the CEP. However, it is extremely important that you fill out the CEP Household Income Form (download available on right). This form may qualify your child(ren) for other school related programs and affects the amount of government aid the school receives. Neglecting to submit this form may have serious negative financial repercussions, so please submit it as soon as possible. *All information acquired is confidential and used strictly for the administration of school related programs.

Surveys will be issued to all students at the end of October, once we have completed our entire menu cycle. These surveys will ask students to rate all of the entrees offered on a scale of 1-10. Later in the year, changes will be made to reflect the results. As always, we welcome constructive feedback. Please contact Thomas O’Brien at [email protected] with any comments or suggestions.

A la carte items will still be available to purchase in the Cafeteria. Keep in mind that with the CEP program, money on meal accounts will be only for the purchase of snacks or seconds. Also, any previous balances owed to the cafeteria for your child’s lunch account must still be paid. Check balances with My Meal Money online or give us a call at (607)326-4151 ext. 36.

Thank you so much and enjoy the rest of your summer!
