Corona Virus Update 3-27-20

Dear Parents/Students and the Roxbury School Community,

Plans for next week…...

We will be again stopping at every home to deliver meals.  If you have previously opted out of meals and now you would like the meals delivered, please call to have this arranged.

To ensure the safety of all, the following will be our procedures for the delivery of meals:

  • We ask that you remain in your home during our delivery….our staff will drop off the meals on your porch and will collect the work….this will ensure safety for all.

  • If possible, if you have a cooler to put outside your door, you can leave work in there and we will put the work and meals in the cooler.  If you do not have a cooler, a shopping bag hung on the door, or at the end of your driveway, will suffice.

We will have Three bus runs for the week - Monday-Wednesday-Friday

  • All bus runs will be leaving the school at 9:00am

  • Bus runs are to:

    • Deliver meals

    • Collect school work

    • Distribute School work

    • Check the health of your family

  • Monday---we will be delivering 2 sets of meals….you noticed we have changed our milk distribution….instead of the half pints we are delivering a half gallon of milk once a week on Monday

  • Wednesday----we will be delivering 3 sets of meals to cover Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

  • Friday---

    • You will receive 5 sets of meals with milk

    • These meals will cover the week of April 6-10, when there will be no delivery

Our school building may be closed, however we are still continuing to deliver quality education to our students. Please make sure that your child is completing their school work, participating in the video conferencing/Google classroom and contacting their teachers for support.

Again, we are just a phone call away to support you and your child.

Please reach out to us.

Thanks for all you are doing,

Jeffery J. Bennett

Corona Virus Update 3-25-20

Dear Parents/Students and Roxbury School Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you, the parents and students, for what you are doing during this new way of teaching and learning.  We clearly understand that change is difficulty.  We clearly understand the stress you are feeling as parents during this time.

A few suggestions for trying to alleviate some of this stress is to make time for some of the following:

=         Maintain contact with your school supports.

=         Make a plan for yourself and your students.

=         Continue to keep a positive mindset; allow opportunities for laughter. It’s okay to be silly and have fun.

=         Take a walk:  Going outside for a walk is healthy and encouraged, just remember to maintain your 6ft distance. It’s okay to sit on the porch or get outside to get some air and feel the sun.

=         Find a quiet space at home (yes even the bathroom counts).

=         Take breaks from the media and watch a movie, read a book, journal, start a project.

=         Remember the things that you enjoy like cooking, baking, movies, games, art, hobbies. Do that one thing that you never seem to have time for.

=         Try to eat healthy well-balanced meals, get exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.

We need for you to ensure your child is checking Google classroom and their school email twice a day.  All class assignments, updates, due dates, upcoming work and tools will be communicated to your child daily.  If you have questions please contact your child’s teacher.

The administrations of the 2020 Grade 3-8 State assessments have been suspended for the remainder of this school year.

Bus runs will be happening again tomorrow for meal delivery and to pick up and distribute school work.  We will make a call to your homes as the buses leave so you can watch for the pickups.

Again, this is not a vacation, we are educating differently and this will take a little time for all of us to adjust.  We understand that.  However, we are just a phone call away to support you and your child.  Please reach out to us.

Childcare for Healthcare Workers and First Responders
All schools in the ONC BOCES are working together, in cooperation with our local county providers and existing licensed daycare providers, to find open placements that will provide childcare for families of essential health care workers and first responders.   Essential health care workers may include licensed health professionals such as physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, LPNs and nurse assistants or laboratory personnel.   First responders may include paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers, and firefighters.   We will work with these families to find available local county placements and existing licensed daycare providers where there are openings.   Please contact us if you have any questions.
Meal Delivery Days Changed
Meals will be delivered on Tuesday and Thursday this week instead of Monday,  Wednesday and Friday.
